Binance delisting notice: what happens to Earn, margin and futures positions

The end of spot trading is often not your first deadline. Positions outside your spot wallet run on their own timetable and get handled first.

The day spot trading stops is often not your first deadline. Take Binance's USDP delisting in September 2026: spot pairs stopped trading at 03:00 UTC on 24 September, but margin borrowing was suspended on the 11th, loan positions were closed on the 16th and Simple Earn holdings were redeemed automatically on the 17th. If the only date you wrote down was the 24th, the Earn and margin parts of your account had already been dealt with by the time you logged in.

Dealt with doesn't mean confiscated. Under the notice, those positions get redeemed, settled or sold and end up as spot balance in your account. What you lose is the choice of when and at what price. Below is the order things closed in one real notice, then what each product does when its time comes and what you can still do before that.

Which product closes first

The English version Binance posted on Binance Square gives a time for each product. In order, all in UTC:

Time (UTC)ProductWhat happens at that moment
11 Sep 06:00Cross and isolated marginNew USDP borrowing suspended; existing loans untouched
16 Sep 07:00VIP Loan, Flexible LoanAll outstanding USDP loan positions closed
16 Sep 10:00Cross, isolated and Portfolio MarginUSDP delisted, positions settled
17 Sep 03:00Spot Copy TradingPairs removed, leftover assets force-sold at market
17 Sep 07:00Simple Earn (Flexible and Locked)Anything not redeemed by the user is redeemed automatically
24 Sep 03:00Spot trading, Trading BotsPairs delisted, bot services terminated
24 Nov 03:00WithdrawalsNo longer supported after this point

Convert, the small-balance converter, Buy & Sell Crypto, Gift Card and Pay are covered by the same notice, but the post only says they remove USDP "on their respective schedules", so open the full announcement for those lines. Thirteen days separate the borrowing freeze from the end of spot trading, and two and a half months separate it from the withdrawal cutoff. Gaps that uneven are exactly why people end up doing things in the wrong order.

Earn: it redeems itself, so think twice before breaking a Locked term

Earn is the gentlest of the lot. The notice says Flexible and Locked positions can be redeemed by the user beforehand, and whatever is left is redeemed automatically. An earlier delisting notice from October 2024 (Chinese edition only, covering IDRT and three other tokens) went into more detail: Flexible holdings were redeemed together with accrued rewards, two days before spot trading ended.

The real decision is with Locked products. Binance's guide to Locked Products says an early redemption returns the assets to your Spot Wallet within 72 hours, but accrued rewards are forfeited and rewards already paid out are deducted from the principal. If the platform is carrying on as normal and only this one token is going, the automatic redemption still lands days before spot trading ends and about two months before withdrawals close. Breaking the term early just to be safe usually means giving up the yield for nothing.

Two cases change that. You might want to sell soon after the notice while the Locked term still has days to run. Or the whole platform could be shrinking, as when an exchange leaves your region, and the remaining timetable may get shorter without much warning. In either case, losing some rewards to get your principal back sooner is a fair trade.

Margin and loans: if you don't repay, the system sells something else

This is where surprises happen, because the coins involved may not be the delisted ones.

Borrowing stops first (in the USDP case, the day after the notice), so you can't open or extend a loan. A few days later margin trading for the token ends, open orders are cancelled and positions are settled. The same October 2024 notice put the mechanism in one line, which in English reads:

The system will sell other collateral in the user's account, buy the delisted token and repay the liability in full.

Say you borrowed 1,000 units of the token being delisted in your cross-margin account and posted BTC as collateral. If the debt is still open at the deadline, the system sells some of your BTC, buys back 1,000 units and closes the loan. You pick neither price. And a token that has just been marked for delisting often has a thin order book in its last days, so buying it back can cost noticeably more than it was worth when you borrowed it.

Doing it yourself goes in this order: cancel open orders in the margin account, buy back the borrowed amount on the spot or margin market, repay manually, then transfer the collateral back to spot. All of it has to fit between the borrowing freeze and the margin delisting, which in the USDP case was five days. VIP and Flexible Loans work the same way, and their closing time (16 September, 07:00) came three hours before margin's.

Futures: reduce-only for the last 30 minutes, and the settlement price isn't the last trade

Futures delistings usually get their own notice. The rules live on Binance's Delisting of Futures Contracts page, which shows a last update of 11 February 2026:

Binance help-centre page titled Delisting of Futures Contracts, showing the publication and update dates under the title and the opening definition of delisting
Captured in October 2026, this help-centre page walks through the delisting process further down; if you hold a position, the part to read is how the mark price is calculated in the final 30 minutes.
  • Last hour
The insurance fund stops taking over liquidations

Liquidations triggered in this window run as a single IOC order; whatever isn't closed goes to auto-deleveraging.

  • Last 30 min
    Reduce-only

No new positions, only closing. The mark price switches to the average of the spot index taken every second, 1,800 readings in total.

  • Cutoff
    Remaining positions settle automatically

Unrealised PnL is realised at the 30-minute average, and the settlement fee equals the taker fee.

One detail is easy to skip: orders placed before the restriction kicks in are not cancelled by Binance and can still fill if conditions are met. If you don't want one filling during that final half hour, cancel it yourself. Leveraged contracts on a token being delisted can swing hard in the last few days, and automatic settlement isn't necessarily better than closing early on your own terms. At the very least, decide before reduce-only starts.

Copy trading and bots: one sells at market, the other just stops

They look alike but end differently. In the USDP notice, Spot Copy Trading dropped the pairs a full week before spot trading ended, and leftover assets were force-sold at market: you choose neither the moment nor the price. Trading Bots were terminated at the same moment spot trading ended, and the notice doesn't say anything will be sold on your behalf. Once a bot is stopped, its unfilled orders go when the spot pair is delisted and the assets stay in your account; a grid bot can leave you holding a mix of the delisted token and the quote currency, depending on where it was when it stopped.

If you follow a copy-trading lead, look at that one before anything else. If you run a bot, stop it yourself before spot trading ends and check what you're left with.

Build your own countdown, backwards

You probably don't hold all of these products, so start with your account rather than the notice:

  1. Find every place the token sits

Spot, Earn, margin (check cross and isolated separately), loans, futures, copy trading and bots. The overview sometimes rolls these into a single figure, so open each account to see the breakdown. Once trading stops, delisted tokens no longer show a valuation, and the notices specifically warn against ticking "Hide small balances", or the balance drops off your list.

  2. Match each one to its line in the notice

Copy only the times for products you actually use and convert them to your local time. Chinese-language notices sometimes give times in UTC+8 while the English ones use UTC, so write the time zone next to each entry.

  3. Set reminders off the earliest one

Put the reminder at least a day before that time, not on the day. Loans and margin need room to buy back and repay, and buying in a few chunks on a thin book takes time too.

The three big milestones (deposits, trading, withdrawals) can go into the delisting timeline board, which counts down the days for you; the product-level times above aren't in it, so note them separately. What each milestone means is covered in Binance delisting notice dates: what each one shuts off, and the order to do things in once a notice lands is in The first 72 hours after a delisting notice. If redemption or settlement leaves you with an amount below the minimum withdrawal, see the piece on leftovers.

Risk note: Times above come from Binance's USDP delisting notice (September 2026) and a Chinese-language delisting notice from October 2024; futures rules come from Binance's help centre, checked in October 2026. Every delisting covers different products on a different timetable, so go by the notice that applies to your token. Margin, loan and futures positions are settled by force at the deadline, and the system may sell other collateral in your account to repay a debt. Crypto prices are volatile and you can lose all of your capital.

Where do my coins go after Earn redeems them automatically?

Going by how Binance has worded past delisting notices, Flexible and Locked holdings redeemed automatically go back to your Spot Wallet, with accrued Flexible rewards redeemed along with them. From then on it's ordinary spot balance: you can sell it before spot trading ends or withdraw it before the withdrawal cutoff.

I only hold the token on spot. Do these product deadlines matter to me?

No. With spot only, the two times that matter are the end of trading and the end of withdrawals. The Earn, margin, loan, futures, copy-trading and bot deadlines only affect people using those products.
